What is Azodicarbonamide (ADC)?
Azodicarbonamide (ADC) is a chemical blowing agent used to create uniform cellular structures in polymers and rubber compounds. During heating, ADC decomposes and releases gas, which expands the material and forms lightweight foam or sponge structures.
Azodicarbonamide (ADC) is yellow in color, and used to expand the cellular network of products containing flour. Heating during processing causes ADC to decompose and gas to be evolved to provide a uniform gas matrix within the polymer leading to a sponge or foam.
Even though it is yellow in colour, ADC leaves a white decomposition residue which means that it does not give colour or smell to the end product.
